Its kind of a funny story how we got her. It was about 5 months ago we went to breakfast after church and Mike grabbed a recycler newspaper. He was just looking through and saw "White Shiba Inu to a good home" no price or anything. Now keep in mind we were not looking for another dog, but something told us to call, so drove up to see if her and Katsu got along. They instantly loved each other. The owner said he was trying to find a good home because him and his boyfriend were breaking up and going their separate ways. She was not fully potty trained at a year old, so they locked her on a small balcony for like 9 hours a day. So he signed over all the paperwork and we just thought this was too good to be true, Katsu finally got a playmate and we feel as though we are rescuing this dog and bringing her to a loving family. Well we have her on the lease and ready to walk out the door and the owner says. "Well aren't we going to do the money thing?" Mike and I look at each other in question and look at him like, "What money thing?" he says, "Well I was asking $500 for her." We all just stared at each other and the owner blurts out, "AWKWARD!!"
So we leave, without the dog, because we were just not willing to pay anything. And turns out 3 weeks later he calls us and says he didn't find anyone that was willing to give him anything and he wants us to have her, for free. Which was awesome, I'm glad he had the heart to find her a good home.
Thats the story, and 4 months later Katsu and her absolutely love each other, he grooms her every night before bed and they bring a smile to our face every day. Whenever we get home they both grab a shoe, or sock or whatever they can find to put in their mouths, and Miko is so funny, she practically sings/growls/howls I don't quite know what to call it but she just shows how exited she is that we are finally home! Makes us smile every time! No matter how hard of a day you have we always come home to a warm greeting from faithful dogs that give us unconditional love.
